Hi Winnie! You’re correct and I see how you interpreted Katerina’s quote. I think what she was trying to get at was that as individuals living in places like NYC, we tend to think that our recycling habits significantly minimize the problem. But the prevalence of single-use plastics worldwide is still a huge issue because so many people simply do not recycle and so many countries do not have effective recycling systems (but are still using these types of plastics in mass quantities). So Katerina believes that we should strive to eliminate unnecessary single-use plastics altogether. Thanks for helping to clarify!
